Successful Job hunting:

Choosing a career is itself an arduous task and young people sometimes don't know which way to go. Looking for openings is an option but not the only one. First, you have to plan your career properly. Have a long-term vision in your mind. What if, you get your dream job but you don't like it any more after a couple of years? How long will you stick to it? Or, for how long will you hop jobs? If you are unable to find the answers, give yourself some quality time. Try to figure out your choices, preferences, the kind of environment you want to work in, what the recruiter wants from you and most importantly, what you really want in life. Know your skills, potential, abilities, productivity and find out if there are some negative aspects in you which could come into your way to success in the long run. Try to focus on the following:

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

• Ability to manage time, and finish assignment within the deadline.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Innovative thinking.

• Ability to take initiatives.

• Ability to deal with abrupt and complex circumstances.

• Good presentational skills.

• Good knowledge of the job industry.

• Attitude to help out others.

If you have changed jobs earlier, present it in a positive way to the employer. Focus on your diverse skills and experiences.

Don't start your search until you have done your career planning properly. You might end up failing an interview

Post Your Resume

Here are some tips that will accelerate your job hunt:

Always have an up-to-date resume and testimonials ready so that you don't have to ransack your credentials when a golden opportunity is knocking at the door.

• Make use of the career counseling services. They can help you enhance your skills and assist you with your self-assessment.

• Have both soft and hard copies of your cv ready to edit. So that you can change the skills and potentials according to the employer's needs. Of course, the information you provide has to be true. Don't provide any wrong or false information about yourself and previous job experiences.

• Use e-mailed job listing services.

• Use your set of connections. Keep in mind that not all jobs are posted or advertised in websites or newspapers. Spread the news that you are looking for a job among your friends and acquaintances
